2014 MAPS Region V Conference
We are pleased to inform you the University of Cincinnati Chapter of Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS) will be hosting the 2014 MAPS Region V Conference. The conference will be held on January 24th-25th, 2014, at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and the Kingsgate Marriott.
MAPS represents the undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA). SNMA was founded in 1964 as a division of the National Medical Association (NMA) and is the oldest and largest student-run organization focused on the needs and concerns of medical students of color. SNMA is made up of 10 regions around the country with Region V consisting of colleges and universities in Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan.
Each year, the MAPS Region V Conference gears students, both high school and undergraduate, toward the development of skills and thought processes necessary for physicians who are competent intellectually, culturally, and socially. The conference aims to help with MAPS’ mission of increasing the matriculation of underrepresented students into health related professions and programs. Through workshops and networking with admissions officers and current medical students, the MAPS conference provides students with a vast amount of information on how they may establish themselves as competitive candidates for medical school early in their undergraduate career.
